Acceptance of these terms
These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) form an agreement between you and RideNova (“RideNova”, “we”, “us”) covering your use of the RideNova rider app, captain app, websites and related services (together, the “Platform”).
By creating an account, requesting a ride or otherwise using the Platform, you confirm that you have read these Terms and agree to be bound by them. If you do not agree, please do not use the Platform.
Some products carry their own additional terms — a promotional offer or a captain subscription plan, for example. Where those terms conflict with these, the product-specific terms govern that product only.
Eligibility and accounts
You must be old enough to enter into a binding contract where you live, and able to do so on your own behalf. An account is personal to you: keep your credentials confidential, keep your contact details current, and tell us promptly if you believe someone else has used your account.
You are responsible for activity carried out through your account, except to the extent that activity results from something we did wrong. Unless we agree otherwise in writing, you may hold one rider account.
A minor may travel only when accompanied by a responsible adult who holds the account and takes the journey with them.
What the service is
RideNova is a technology platform. We provide the software that lets a rider request a journey and lets an independent captain accept it: matching, routing, dispatch, fare estimation, in-trip support and payment facilitation.
RideNova does not own the vehicles, does not employ the captains and does not itself provide transport. The transport is provided by the captain who accepts your request, and the journey is carried out under their responsibility.
Availability depends on where the Platform has launched, which captains are online at that moment, and conditions on the road. Arrival and journey times shown in the app are estimates calculated from live and historical signals — they are estimates, not promises. We may add, change, suspend or withdraw features as the Platform develops.
How you use the platform
Treat captains, fellow riders and support staff with respect. Wait at the pickup point you set, use the seat belt or helmet provided, and follow reasonable safety requests during the journey.
Do not ask a captain to break traffic rules, to exceed the vehicle’s seating capacity, or to carry anything unlawful. Leave the vehicle as you found it; where you cause damage or soiling, a cleaning or repair charge may be assessed against evidence, and you will be given the chance to respond before it is applied.
Ratings and feedback should be honest and about the journey. Do not use trip details to contact, record or follow anyone outside the Platform.
Captains and the platform relationship
Captains use the Platform as independent providers. They decide whether, when and where to go online, and they may accept or decline any request.
Nothing in these Terms creates an employment, agency, partnership or joint-venture relationship between RideNova and a captain, or between RideNova and a rider. Captains are responsible for the condition of their vehicle, for holding the licences and insurance required of them, and for driving lawfully.
We set standards for using the Platform and we act on them — but setting a standard does not make RideNova the operator of the journey.
Fares and payments
Before you confirm a request, the app shows either an upfront fare or an estimate together with the basis it was calculated on. A fare is assembled from components such as a base amount, distance travelled, time taken, and any applicable taxes, tolls, surcharges or waiting time. The components in force in your area are shown in the app.
Demand-based pricing may apply when requests outnumber available captains. Where it applies, it is disclosed before you confirm — never afterwards.
The final amount may differ from an estimate where the route, the stops or the waiting time change during the journey. You authorise us to charge the payment method you select, or to collect through the cash option where it is offered. A receipt is issued for every completed journey.
This website publishes no fares or amounts. The app is the authoritative source for what a journey costs in your area. Tips, where offered, are voluntary and go to the captain.
Cancellations and waiting
You can cancel a request in the app. A cancellation fee may apply once a captain has begun travelling toward you or after the grace period shown; the app states the window and the amount before you confirm the cancellation.
If a captain cancels, or if no captain is matched, you are not charged. If you do not reach the pickup point within the waiting period shown in the app, the journey may be cancelled as a no-show and a fee may apply.
Where a charge has been made in error, contact support and we will review it.
Prohibited use
You must not use the Platform to do any of the following.
- Anything unlawful, or the carriage of goods that may not lawfully be carried.
- Impersonating another person, or opening an account with details that are not yours.
- Interfering with the Platform — scraping, reverse engineering, probing, circumventing security or rate limits, or introducing malicious code.
- Using automated means to create accounts, requests, reviews or ratings.
- Manipulating fares, promotions, referrals or any other mechanism for advantage.
- Reselling, sublicensing or commercially exploiting access to the Platform without our written permission.
- Threatening, discriminatory, violent or harassing behaviour toward anyone you encounter through the Platform.
We may investigate a suspected breach and take proportionate action, including limiting features, suspending an account, or reporting conduct to the authorities where we are obliged to.
Disclaimers
The Platform is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that an estimate will prove accurate — maps, traffic data and location signals are imperfect, and conditions on the road change.
RideNova does not warrant the conduct of any captain or any rider. We set standards, but we do not control how a journey unfolds.
Nothing in this section limits a right you hold that cannot be limited by the law that applies to you.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by the law that applies to you, RideNova is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for loss of profit, revenue, data or goodwill, arising out of your use of the Platform.
Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability for any claim is capped at cap to be set before publication.
Nothing here excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded — including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.
Indemnity
You agree to indemnify RideNova, and its officers and employees, against claims, losses and reasonable costs arising from your breach of these Terms, your misuse of the Platform, or your infringement of someone else’s rights.
This does not apply to the extent a claim arises from our own act or omission. We will notify you of any claim we ask you to cover, and give you a fair opportunity to take part in defending it.
Suspension and termination
You may stop using the Platform at any time and ask us to close your account.
We may suspend or end your access where you breach these Terms, where an account presents a safety or fraud risk, where we are required to, or where we withdraw a service. Other than in urgent cases we will tell you why and, where it is appropriate, give you a route to respond.
Amounts already owed remain payable. Clauses that by their nature should outlast the agreement — payment obligations, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnity and governing law — continue to apply after it ends.
Changes to these terms
We will update these Terms as the service develops. When a change is material we will publish the revised version on this page, update the version marker at the top of it, and give notice in the app or by email before the change takes effect.
Continuing to use the Platform after the effective date means you accept the revised Terms. If you do not accept them, stop using the Platform and close your account.
Governing law and disputes
The governing law of these Terms, and the courts or forum for resolving a dispute, are jurisdiction to be confirmed and forum to be confirmed.
RideNova has not launched, and no jurisdiction has been settled for this document. This section therefore states no choice of law and must not be read as one; it will be completed in the reviewed version.
We would far rather resolve a problem directly. Contact support first and we will try to reach a fair outcome before anything formal begins.
Contact
Questions about these Terms, or about a charge, a journey or an account, can be sent to us through the contact page.
When the reviewed version of this document is published it will carry a named address for legal notices, in place of notice address to be confirmed.
This page will be replaced by a reviewed and dated version before RideNova opens to the public. Until then it exists so that anyone following the company can see exactly what we intend to commit to.
